Margaret, Lady Hodge, Appears To Demand That Apple Act Illegally Over Tax
Tim Worstall, Forbes
Which is how we end up at this interesting position. The low margins that Apple can get away with on selling iKit to third party retailers mean that it would be in breach of transfer pricing rules if it were to deliberately use a different price to increase domestic UK (or DE etc) profits. Margaret, Lady Hodge’s, demand that Apple onshore more of its profits is thus illegal under international tax law.
The Indie Life
Lucvandal..com
This reminds me of the early 1990s, where any kid with a few thousands of dollars could start his own snowboard company. Eventually, the market got saturated and many of those companies disappeared, got acquired or merged together in order to gather forces, improve their products and be more competitive. Patching The Newton
Landon Dyer, Dadhacker
This one ends with me going into a Good Guys electronics store in a suburb of Boston, flashing my employee badge and saying “I’m from Apple. Take me to your Newtons.” I wanted to use a deep G-man voice, but I didn’t have the build for it. Also, I was wearing the slightly redonkulous khaki-pants and polo shirt that we’d been instructed to wear for the Newton debut the next day, and I looked like a rah-rah Apple sales guy. Appearances are deceiving.
