National Instruments (NI) recently released a new version of its LabView test automation programming environment for the latest Apple Macintosh computers based on the Arm-based Apple M1 CPU/GPU SoC. I have fond memories of System 7. If I remember correctly, I first started using Mac seriously (for work) on System 7.5, porting stuff over from Windows and DOS (!). And the one thing that I remember most was how the programming APIs on the Mac was so much better, so much more powerful, so much more sensible, than whatever there was over on the PC side.
Okay, maybe it wasn't entirely fair. I am comparing QuickTime on the Mac with Video for Windows on… well… Windows, and Video for Windows was one of the worst thing to come out from Microsoft during that time. Also, DOS has nothing.
This was also the time when I read Inside Macintosh cover to cover. I think I should read Swift and SwiftUI cover to cover, someday, just for fun.
