Apple AirPods 4 Review: Better Sound, Now With Noise Cancelling, by Samuel Gibbs, The Guardian

The earbuds fit slightly more comfortably and securely, but anyone who didn’t get on with the previous design won’t like the new one and I wouldn’t recommend them for running. They sound better with more depth that makes them a great listen. A chip upgrade makes them more reliable at switching between Apple devices and adds a few extra features including clearer calls.

But it is the noise cancelling in the slightly more expensive model that is most impressive. They cannot match the AirPods Pro with their silicone tips or other plugged earbuds, but they can take the edge off most unwanted noise. I think it is worth the extra cost unless you predominantly wear one earbud only.

Why Can't Apple's Pro Users Have Fun Too?, by David Price, Macworld

Even professionals deserve pink phones. And this is the hill I am prepared to die on.

More Annoying macOS 15 Sequoia Prompts: Bluetooth, by Jeff Johnson

The prompt warns that I "won't be able to use a Bluetooth keyboard or mouse," despite the fact my Mac mini already has a USB keyboard and mouse plugged in. Indeed, the Mac isn't using any Bluetooth devices, and macOS knows this but doesn't care. Moreover, the Bluetooth prompt appears even when all Bluetooth-related features are disabled such as AirDrop and Handoff. There's no "intelligence" to the prompt.

Hollywood's Big Boom Has Gone Bust, by Regan Morris, BBC

For over a decade, business was booming in Hollywood, with studios battling to catch up to new companies like Netflix and Hulu. But the good times ground to a halt in May 2023, when Hollywood’s writers went on strike.

The strikes lasted multiple months and marked the first time since the 1960s that both writers and actors joined forces - effectively shutting down Hollywood production. But rather than roaring back, in the one year since the strikes ended, production has fizzled.

Bottom of the Page

I like my AirPods Pro 2 so much that I don't think I will ever willingly switch to the regular AirPods. But all the reviews do seem to indicate that Apple is, once again, doing a great job with this product line, and if AirPods Pro doesn't fit your ear (or if your budget is not compatible), the regular AirPods sounds like a great alternative.

When AirPods Pro doesn't work for me is for sleeping, which I do listen to audio stuff so that I can block my brain for thinking and worrying and other regular stuff that my brain do. For this, I don't have any good recommendations yet except for an old pair of EarPods.
